Two ways to take a property out of service:
  • Deactivate — temporary. The property and all its data stay in RentSmart; syndication and showings pause.
  • Delete — permanent. Everything is removed and cannot be recovered.
Pick deactivation unless you’re certain you’ll never list the property again.

Deactivating a property

Open the property → click Deactivate Property in the header. A warning modal shows exactly what will happen:
  • The property is removed from all syndication partners
  • Pending or scheduled showings are cancelled — affected leads are notified that the property has been delisted
  • Pending households are notified that the home is no longer available
Click Deactivate Property to confirm, or Cancel to back out. After deactivation, the property is still in your account — you can edit it freely and reactivate any time. Reactivating publishes it back to syndication partners and reopens showings.
Deactivation is also how you change the Showing Type (Self-Access vs. In-Person), the assigned lockbox, the address, or the property type — those are locked while a property is active.

Deleting a property

Deletion is permanent. There is no undo. If you might want this property back later, deactivate instead.
Open the property → scroll to the bottom → click Delete Property. The confirmation modal lists what will be permanently removed:
  • The property listing and all its information
  • All photos
  • All listing feedback
  • All scheduled showings (cancelled) and all leads on this property
  • Any other files attached to the property
To confirm, type the full property address into the confirmation field and click Delete Property. The address-typing requirement is intentional friction — there’s no other way to confirm.
