# Buy a Codebox

> Purchase a new digital lockbox through RentSmart for $100 plus shipping.

Buying a Codebox through RentSmart is the fastest path to Self-Access showings — units ship pre-configured to your codes and pair automatically to your account.

## Cost

**\$100 per unit, plus shipping and handling.** Billed immediately at purchase.

You can buy 1–10 units in a single order.

## How to buy

Click **Buy / Link Lockbox** on the [Lockboxes page](/lockboxes/manage), then choose **Buy a Codebox**.

  <Step title="Select quantity">
    Choose how many units you need (1–10). The Order Summary on the right updates as you change quantity.

    Total = (\$100 × quantity) + shipping & handling.

  <Step title="Set your codes">
    Enter the three codes for each Codebox you're ordering:

    * **Shackle Code** (5 digits) — releases the shackle to attach the lockbox to a door
    * **Door Code** (5 digits) — the master code. Leads never see this; they get one-time codes instead.
    * **Admin Code** (6 digits) — for changing settings on the device

    RentSmart will pre-program each Codebox with these codes before shipping.

    * **Payment method** — use a saved payment method or enter a new card inline
    * **Shipping address** — where to ship the units

    Click **Add Codebox** to submit. You'll see a confirmation:

    > Your Codebox will ship out within 10 business days. Shipping information will be emailed to you when your order ships.

## After purchase

* The new unit appears as a **Processing Codebox** on the [Lockboxes page](/lockboxes/manage) — no serial number yet
* When it ships, status changes to **Shipped** and a **Track Shipment** button becomes available
* When it arrives, you click **Activate** on the card, enter the serial number from the physical unit (or shipping documentation), and the codebox transitions to **Unassigned**
* From **Unassigned**, you can assign it to a property at activation, or swap it onto a property from the Showing Coordinator widget

## What ships in the box

* The Codebox unit (pre-configured to your codes)
* A spare key holder if applicable
* Installation guidance

You'll get tracking info by email once the order ships. An invoice for the total amount appears in your [Billing](/organization/billing) history immediately.
