# Create your account

> Sign up and verify your email to get started with RentSmart.

RentSmart accounts are self-service — no demo call or contract required. You can create your account in a couple of minutes and move straight into onboarding.

## Where to sign up

Three paths, all equivalent:

* [rentsmart.com](https://rentsmart.com) → **Get Started** in the header
* [app.rentsmart.com](https://app.rentsmart.com) → **Register New Account** on the login screen
* Direct: [app.rentsmart.com/register](https://app.rentsmart.com/register)

## The Register form

You'll be asked for:

* **First Name** and **Last Name**
* **Email Address** — this becomes your login username
* **Company Name**
* **Phone Number**
* **I am a** — pick **Property Manager** or **Property Owner**
* **What property management software do you currently use?** — pick yours from the dropdown, or **None** if you don't have one. This powers any integrations available to you.
* **Password** (with confirm)
* Agreement to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

  If you pick **Applicant/Tenant** under "I am a" (the literal radio button label), you'll be redirected to [rentsmart.com/application](https://rentsmart.com/application) instead. Prospective tenants don't use the portal — they only create their Reusable RentSmart Profile and submit it to specific properties.

## Verifying your email

After you click **Create Account**, RentSmart sends a verification link to the email you provided. The link **expires in 2 days**.

Either click the link in the email or press the **Verify** button — both work. You'll land on the login page with a success banner and you'll be ready to sign in.

If you try to log in before verifying, the login page shows a banner with a **Resend Verification Email** button.

## What happens after sign-up

The account you just created is the **Primary** account for your organization. There's exactly one Primary per organization, and they own billing and team management. (You can [transfer Primary](/organization/transfer-primary) later if needed.)

After your first login, RentSmart walks you through the [onboarding wizard](/getting-started/onboarding) — an 11-step setup that configures your screening rules, showing availability, and branding.
