# Your Lead Email

> The forwarding email you can use as the inquiry contact on any external site.

Your **Lead Email** is a unique email address RentSmart provides for every organization (and every property). Use it as the inquiry/contact email on any third-party listing site, and inquiries get auto-imported as leads.

## Where to find it

**Dashboard → Quick Links → Lead Email** (click to copy to clipboard).

Property-specific Lead Emails are also available on each active property — open the property → **Showing Coordinator** → **Syndication** tab.

## How it works

When someone emails your Lead Email (or a property's specific Lead Email):

1. RentSmart parses the message for the lead's name, contact info, source, and property
2. RentSmart attempts to match the email to one of your properties
3. **If a match is found** — a lead record is created on that property and the lead gets an auto-reply with scheduling information
4. **If no match is found** — a lead record is still created, but the lead gets a **generic auto-reply** pointing them at your [Public Listing Page](/branding/public-listing-page) so they can pick the property themselves

Either way, you get the lead. The matching just affects which auto-reply they receive.

## When to use it

The Lead Email is intended for any external listing site that RentSmart **doesn't syndicate to automatically** — Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, your own website, smaller regional sites, etc.

For the partners RentSmart *does* syndicate to (Apartments.com, Zillow Group, Rent., Apartment List, Zumper, Dwellsy, RentalBeast), leads flow in automatically through the syndication feed. You don't need to set the Lead Email on those sites.

## Per-property vs. organization-level

Per-property emails guarantee a match, so leads always get the property-specific auto-reply. Organization-level emails fall back to the generic reply when no property can be matched.

## Best practices

* **Use per-property emails when listing on single-property sites** — guaranteed match
* **Use the organization email for general inquiries** — covers your whole portfolio
* **Double-check the auto-reply** is going where you expect by sending yourself a test inquiry
